St. Petersburg customs officers detected 544 liters of Italian wine in a vehicle arriving from Estonia. The vehicle was stopped at the Southern customs post of the St. Petersburg customs.
According to the information contained in the transit declaration, the goods “falling wires and rubber bands for weaving looms” were sent to the address of the company from St. Petersburg by a company, registered in Estonia.
During the inspection of the vehicle cargo compartment, customs officers instead of the declared goods revealed more than 100 5-liter cans of red and white Cantore wine; several 0.75-liter bottles of red wine and 6 3-liter cans of olive oil. According to the information on the labels, all products are made in Italy.
On the fact of the inaccurate information declaring, a case was initiated on an administrative offense under Part 3 of Article 16.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. The goods have been withdrawn. The issue of initiating a criminal case is being resolved.
