Khabarovsk customs officers revealed the smuggling of valuable timber worth 204 million rubles

Illegal export to China of valuable wood species such as Mongolian oak and Manchurian ash in the amount of over than 204 million rubles was revealed by Khabarovsk customs officers during operational search activities.

The smuggling of round timber was organized by a Khabarovsk resident. He acted by power of attorney on behalf of two commercial organizations, the directors of which were nominees registered in the Moscow and Ryazan regions. During the customs goods declaring the attacker provided the Khabarovsk customs with forged contracts and CITES permits. The volume of illegally exported timber exceeded 32 thousand cubic meters.

On the fact of the strategically important resources smuggling, Khabarovsk customs opened seven criminal cases under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The article provides for penalty up to seven years of imprisonment with a fine of up to 1 million rubles.
