Representatives of the FCS of Russia took part in an online meeting of experts from the customs services of the BRICS countries

From the 4th to the 6th of August, 2020, the FCS of Russia held meetings of experts from the customs services of five countries in the format of video conference within the framework of Russia’s chairmanship in BRICS.

This event brought together over 30 participants from the core-business departments of the customs services of the BRICS countries. During the meeting, the experts discussed issues of cooperation in the field of risk management, mutual recognition of authorized economic operators, fight against customs offenses, international Internet commerce, as well as intellectual processing of images of inspection and examination complexes (IEC).

The meeting participants analyzed and determined the forms of implementation of the pentalateral projects, including through entering into relevant memorandums of understanding and implementation of the Roadmaps. In addition, specific deadlines for the implementation of such initiatives and their practical contribution to the development of the economies of the BRICS countries have been determined.

 Work on agreeing a draft intergovernmental agreement on mutual administrative assistance in customs matters of BRICS has been continued. The countries agreed on more than half of the provisions of the draft document, and also decided to use video communication as a platform for regular discussions.
